hoss101.375 Krag?
Does anyone here have any experience with such a beast? A local shop has a very nice P14 with a new octagonal barrel in this caliber. I`ve never heard of it, but it is supposed to be the basic 30\40 Krag just necked up. It comes with dies and brass. The rifle itself has had a lot of work done to it. It is cock on opening, very smooth, and has a nice trigger on it. It also has a decent stock. It has an old variable Weaver in adjustable mounts. I`m thinking it might be fun to fool with for a little while. I believe I can get it for about $300. Anyone have any idea on ballistics for this?

Curtis_Lemayi've heard of a 6mm krag and i've heard of a .25 krag but never a .375 krag. sounds pretty interesting, although, i'd slug the bbl before doing anything if you buy it.

frankeHoss,
Sorry,I can't help you.
PO Ackley lists 10 .375 cartridges in his book, but none based on the Krag case.
Do you have a cartridge?

hoss101I don`t have one here, but I did look at the brass. It appeared to just be 30/40 brass necked up.

MtnGunIt should make a great cast bullet gun. I shot, for several years, a Win. High Wall in .40 Krag. Ackley didn't list that one in his book either, but I have seen several.

jeffeossoI would buy it, and rechamber to 375 HH, cost, total, 125$.
as a 375xkrag, it would be more or less a 375 epps (303 straight)which is awful close to a 375 winchester, in power.
feeding for a 375hh should be a breeze...

bpesteveA .375 Krag would be very close to the old British .375 2-1/2" Flanged, the Krag case being some 2/10" shorter. Not a bad cartridge, and in a P14 you could probably get close to .405 Winchester power. For $300 including dies it's definitely worth tinkering with.

OldsargeIt ought to send a round nose bullet down range at very moderate velocities and that would give some serious penetration. A 270 gr. would do real well and I'll bet that in that strong action you could handle 300 gr. nicely. The original Krag made it's reputation as a killer elk and moose gun under 200 yards with 220 gr. softpoints. The .375 wildcat should be even better.
