??s on loading for the 378 Wby Mag.
I working up loads for a 378 Wby Mag that I bought here from POP. Beautiful rifle, I might add.
Anyhow 109 gr RL-22 behind the 300 gr Barnes TSX is giving me moa accuracy at 100 yds. Probably around 2800 fps, plenty fast and still 2 gr under max.
My problem is when I started load developement for the 300 gr Banded solid. My Redding die is to short to properly crimp this bullet. Do they offer another seater plug for bullets of this shape??
Loading for the 458 LOTT, I just made the crimping groove on the 500 gr Barnes solid using Hornady dies.
Anybody working with this combination of bullet & dies for the 378 Wby.

Thanks
Phil

Your're a lucky man! I was second in line for that rifle. I have this theory that I can turn a 378 into a poor man's Chey Tac 375 Wink

Anyway, POP seems to have done the most load development on the 378 on this site - you should PM him.

Would Redding offer a custom seater die/plug for 378?

I spoke with a tech at Redding. Out going , eager to help, he is going to send me a shorter seater plug. I don't lack much getting those solids crimped.
Pop must be on vacation, I did PM him. I didn't have a problem making the 300 gr TSX shoot. The gun will cloverleaf them with 104 gr of RL-22. She came back in at 109 gr around 1". Might do better with that load, I just quite right there.
With the brake its a rather pleasent gun to shoot. I like those Wby stocks, recoil straight back for me.
Appreciate your offer of loaning me your dies. Still might take you up on it.
Thanks
Phil

The load you mentioned above did you ever have a chance to shoot them through a chrongraph?. I have tried the 300 grain Nosler Partition however,I just can't get them to group very well. 300 grain Hornaday factory loads where up above 3000 fps.

Thanks

Steve
