gringo_pistoleroupdated Empire Rifles 500 Jeffery photos
The stock has been cut!

I just got these photos in from George. It's hard to tell from these photos, but the extended bottom tang has been added. It's screwless, it dovetail's into the pistol grip cap with a stud.
This is my grip cap. It's the only engraving on the rifle.
Things are commming along nicely. I hope to have it in my hands by next month

mehulkamdarBetter and better! Congratulations.
I am sure that it is going to be the longest month in your life until you get the riflr in your hands!

Good hunting!

gringo_pistoleroThe rifle is from George Sandmann at Empire Rifles. It is an East African model. The action is from Granite Mountain. I believe George got the stock from the Dressels, very nice people. The barrel is 22". The ele foot on the cap was engraved by Rachel Wells...I had to be different. Besides, if I ever do get to go elephant hunting, I have my tracking guide for idiots built in.
http://www.dressels.com/AC, the grain is straight through the pistol grip. Besides which the GM action has a huge recoil lug, and the barrel has a second recoil lug to help distribute the recoil. That's also why I had the bottom tang added to the action, to further reinforce the grip area. If it breaks, I also have a synthetic stock for the rifle. I expect it will hold up. I haven't seen the wood personally, but the Dressel's and George's stock guy both thought it was up to the task.
I'll put up more photos as I get them. I'm still waiting to see how the claw mounts are going to turn out. So far, it's all good.

jstevensA nice classy looking rifle. Might be too nice to take to Africa, as Africa's hard on rifles.

gduffeygp, thanks for your pm on my post the other day. What is the estimated weight? Will you shoot Woodleighs? Tell us more of you plans. And I cannot imagine going without it. You must take it. Thats the only reason to build it. gduffey

gringo_pistoleroJS, I've ordered a synthetic stock to go with the rifle so I don't have to worry about the hunting conditions. As long as I'm not in swamp-like conditions the wood stock will be fine. If won't own anything that I can't hunt with.
JD, I asked for 10.5lb w/o the scope and 11.5 with the scope. I don't know how close it's going to come out to yet. For white tail deer I'll be using Woodleighs, some of M. Potts bullets, or cast loads. I'll have to see which groups best. I'll definitely be using cast loads for practice. It doesn't look like she's going to be cheap to feed! When I go to Africa I'll use 570gr Barnes X bullets.
HK, rust blue it is.
