POPCZ 550 in 458 Lott?
I am looking at the American CZ 550. Are these still plagued with the stocks cracking? Are the new versions all outfitted with the crossbars for support?
Generally speaking are they a good rifle?

LionHunterStock bolts are now standard. At one time, CZ would install them in the older stocks at no charge. Not sure if this policy is still in place.

PD999Get the Kevlar stock with aluminium 'bedding'; probably a lot stronger.

shootawayCracking stocks are not an issue with any bigbore. That is like asking if a car windshield cracks. If it doesn`t move around in its frame it won`t crack. You don`t need any crossbolts.I still practice with my rifles and will one day reach a conclusion as to which is the best big bore bolt action rifle. The only way to do this is to practice continuosly with them for a long time. Some people may say this or that is best but they don`t know what they are talking about. The CZ in 458 Lott is not leading the race,IMO.The Ruger on the other hand is out front-loads easy, accurate factory barrel, bolt works fast, points very easy, excellent cast metal action, excellent safety, manages recoil very good,etc... I have shot out a few of them, broke my ribs, had scary concussion symptoms of all kinds(to say the least) and know them well.

juanpozziCzs ARE GREAT RIFLES we used and abused them since 20 years ago in my farm ,they are made in the old fashioned way ,cold forged barrels and not casting ,I RECOMMEND THEM WITHOUT HESITATION THEY ARE GREAT RIFLES .Besides hunting professionally we teach rifle classes so they are rented ,never ,never a problem .
