Mickey1, I will post pictures of my 2 bore immediately after you post pictures of both you Manton and Tolley 8 bores. I want closeups showing the makers names with a post-it note saying "these pics are for you 2 bore" . Do the same thing with the bores and cartriges in the breech. Love to see some pictures of the roughly 400 buffalo (both water and cape) that you have dispatched in your big game hunting career. Oh, by the way, if you are indeed this great white hunter, I apologize to you, but why have you not published a book for all these ding dongs to read?
2 bore
You renigged on that deal as I thought you would. Boy would I like to play poker with you.
Well here is the new deal.
I post the pictures of the action, like you suggested. Plus I put in something that makes it clear that these are my rifles.
You then apologize to Nickadu for being 'incorrect'
I don't want you to leave the forum, because like I have said previously, you are great fun and you don't have any honor anyway. You are only trying to get the respect that you lack in the rest of your life.
OR
You, tell us all who really owns the rifles, because you said that you know, and I will leave the forum, forever.
I do have one admission though. You are right that is not really a 700 H &H cartridge in the bore. I had Jim Bell make me a special 45-70 cartridge with the 700 headstamp.

ScottBI'm curious about a few things.
Are these rifled or smoothbore barrels?
Are they muzzle-loaders? If so, I guess they use a standard percussion cap?
And what is that little round for reference?
And last, is this what the average safari hunter would have carried? At what time?
Cool pics. Cooler clown. BTW, 6 in Russian is WECTb (Shaiyst)

Mickey1Scott;
They are both rifles, not smooth bores. They take cartridges just like any other rifle. In the first picture there is a picture of two 8 Bores (the short ones) and one 700 H & H. In the second picture there is an 8 Bore on the rifle on the left and a 700 H & H in the bore. The little cartridgge on the rifle on the right is a 22 lr.
These were 'big bores' before smokeless powder. they are both Black Powder. 11 drams in one and 8 drams in the other.
The Manton was made in 1886 and the Tolley in 1894.
I will post a picture of the rifleing if I can get it to show up. The underlever is what opens the action.
I don't suppose we will hear from the Village People for awhile as I would hope he is in Rehab after his posts from last night.

470 MbogoHi Mickey
What is the twist in that barrel. It looks like it's about half a twist in the barrel length.

Mickey1I don't know. I'll check tommorow. I wonder if the Tolley is the same with the 300 grain longer bullet?
Here is a picture of the Tolley.

<400 Nitro Express>Beautiful rifles, Mickey. Thanks for posting them.

ScottBThanks Mickey.
How does it activate the cartridge? It doesn't look like it strikes at the right angle. That's why I thought it was a percussion mechanism.
Beautiful rifles! You must have searched the net for days to find the perfect pics, with the clown and all
