Lehigh 50-cal 775 Grain Cheap
Lehigh is selling off a bunch of 50-caliber bullets at a buck each.

I thought so too. I personally ordered 200 of them and will try them out in the 50 BMG. Over 22 pounds of brass solids for 200 bucks... I'll take it. Worst case scenario is that they suck in the 50-cal and I use them as brass work pieces in the lathe.

Turn them down to .458-caliber. Leave as VLD or shorten to flat-based FN brass solid of whatever weight floats your boat. Big Grin

If they don't shoot well in the big 50, that is a great suggestion! Having a mini-lathe does open up many possibilities...

Glad I got my order in, as they sold out in no time.

Turning bullets on a manual lathe is an exercise in futility.

It can be done, but will drive you up the wall.

You will need to take very fine cuts to arrive at the desired diameter.

For about five seconds, I thought about buying some of these and turning them down to make 600 grain flat nosed solids for my .500 A-Square.

But then reality hit. It would take forever and would not be any kind of fun.

And I have never had any problems with commercially available 570 grain Barnes Banded Solids and a case full of RL15.

Still, for a guy who shoots a .50 BMG, this is a great deal.
