mstarlingWay to recover munched Rigby cases?
Guys,
A fella gave me 10 rounds of handloaded 416 Rigby shells. Alas, they've been slightly crushed at the shoulder during the reloading process. Some more slightly than others ;>

I pulled the bullets. Left me wondering if they couldbe loaded with a lead bullet and something like XMR-5744 and fireformed back into their original shape safely.
Does the 416 Rigby case have enough taper to allow this safely?
(I hate to throw expensive once fired cases away!)
thanks,

PanchoBet they were Bell brass. Sorry stuff IMHO. I had the same problem and finally junked them. They are too thick in the neck and seating the bullet shoves the shoulder in. Throw them away and buy some Norma brass.

mstarlingActually, they are nickel Federals. Nickel cases are some times a problem.
I have found that chamfering the necks and then lubing prevents this sort of thing.
How bout cream of wheat fire forming?

RobgunbuilderPut a primer in the case add about 25 grs of Bulleseye take the gun outside and chamber the case while holding the gun straight up in the air.. Pull the trigger and eject perfect cases. No filler no nothing, It will be Loud!-Rob

AtkinsonJust shoot them and they will blow out...I have used a lot of Bell brass and never found it lacking...Most all doubles, 505's etc. are bell..
Only brass I know that is just no good is Bertram and it works well enough in old black powder cases...

<Rusty>My experience with B.E.L.L. from Mast Technology has been nothing short of great! The brass is perfect and the folks you deal with are friendly and act like they care about your business with them.
I have their 450/400 3 inch and 404 jeffery cases.
