RustySay can I talk you out of the barrel band on your Whitworth? The one I got the band was removed.

TC1OK Kevin, I don't normally do this but I feel's generous today. I'll go ahead and take it off your hands and allow you to make a small profit on your rifle. I'll give you $225 for it (bullets included of course.)

HA!
Man what a DEAL! I really like those Whitwoth's. Enjoy your new toy.

bobcAnd I thought mine was a great deal! I'm pretty sure the barrel lug is factory, the bedding added later. Mine was also magnaported. We used it in Namibia with great success this summer. It's light enough that carrying it around all day is a breeze, and you never notice the recoil when you're hunting. The magnaport is loud, and I'm considering shortening the barrel to 22" to remove the ports. I'm also looking into having the gentry safety installed. I bought a PME 2 position safety but discovered it couldn't be installed on this rifle since the bolt had a speed lock modification. Only the 3 position will work after this alteration. Good luck with the Whitworth. Bob

KevinNYWood would have to be added to where the slot is cut for the trigger safety. If this was done at the same time that the stock was being refinished I don't think it would be very obvious and would close the opening to keep junk like grass seeds from getting in there. The 3 position would also overhang this spot a bit further camoflaging the repair.

fla3006Great buy. I'm redoing a 375 Whitworth right now. I've replaced the buttpad with a red Pachmayer English decelerator, opened up the grip, added a Fisher grip cap and ebony forend tip. Next I'll sand, finish and rechecker. This is the 2nd Whitworth I've owned. They're super rifles, light weight, point well, genuine Mauser actions, etc.

300H&HI love the way you baited us with the bullet pics first

.
Everybody's allowed one steal in their life. "A great deal" depends on whether you were in the market for a rifle or not. If not, you paid $200 too much

.
Have fun with it!
