I'm looking at a SAKO 85 in 375 H&H on Gunbroker. I was wondering if anyone has input on these rifles. I am a big SAKO fan but no experience with one like this.
I'm dealing on this rifle, I need to replace my Winchester M70 Safari Express. If the SAKO deal falls through, I'll probably go back to the Winchester or a Whitworth.

While the Sako 85 is a fine rifle I'm just wondering why you have to replace your M70 Safari.

I have an older Sako AV in 375 and love it.. It will shoot under an inch from the bench if I do my part, well balanced and nice to look at... My M70 never shot as well as the Sako with any load and lots of tinkering..
What I don't like about Sako is the fact that they offer no support (parts) for older model rifles. They don't even reply to requests!
Like i said, I love the Sako, but will never buy another one because of the support issue..
(I got mine used and the sights were removed... i've been looking for over 2 years, and so far no luck.)

Have a Sako Kodiak in .375H&H at the local shop, just awaiting purchase permit. Neat rifle. Has the right looks but just a modern finish. Ah, well... It'll be really good getting meat during the wet season.

Savage_99The look of that sako 85 on GB is not what I prefer.
The laminated stock does not look classic. Too much SS. Only pseudo CRF, Only a trigger safety that does not control the firing pin. Overdone grip cap.
Get the 'power' or optic that your eye likes instead of what someone else says.
When we go to the doctor they ask us what lens we like!
Do that with your optics.

You can buy parts for older Sakos in Australia from the importer so it isn't Sako that is at fault if you can't get them in the USA.

Ever try to get any customer service from Beretta USA, who owns Sako! I rest my case...
