Does anyone know where i can get some a-square brass in .425 Express?

They don't list the 425 Express, but I believe they may be able to correctly headstamp some basic 45 caliber brass for you to size in your dies.

Only a fool, such as myself, would buy A-Square brass. It is soft as dog turds and consequently causes sticky extraction. I suggest forming your own brass out of some good quality stuff to start, like Normal or Federal brass.

Ditto what 500 grains had to say, I bought a-square brass in two calibers 500 A2 and 577 t.rex. I had trouble both times with the brass being too soft.

425 Express is that the same as 425 WR?
If it is Huntington's has Bertram brass in 425 WR.

I must lead a charmed life. I have about 100 rounds of A-Square .450 Ackley and have had no problems with loading it. It is soft and gets all out of shape if loaded with compressed loads but I've never had one stick. It's getting a little old now and behaves better.

Thanks guys for your help, but this project has changed. I've decided to make this a .404, so brass isn't a problem since norma makes 404 brass.

Yep, that is why I eliminated the need for 500 A-Square headstamped brass by going with the 510/460 Wby Imp. JAB, or 510 JAB, and using the 460 Weatherby Norma brass to match my barrel engraving. No problems finding brass now.

The .425 Express isn't even close to the .425 WR! The Express is a short belted Win case necked up or down to handle a .425 bullet. Since the shoulder is square and there is plenty of it, the belt is useless and the whole cartridge ill-designed. I spoke to the inventor and my impression of his creation was that he did one of those "Gawrsh, Ah wonder whut will happen if'n Ah doo this" kind of things. Sure, it works just fine and is a decent Class II DGR but a more savvy reloader would have used shortened Norma .404 and had a really slick little boomer that didn't look like it was cobbled together out of spare parts . . . which it was. BTW, he used .300 Win to start with.

I really wish that people in general would simply GIVE UP on ANYTHING from A-Square! Art Alphin may be some kind of patriot in some peoples minds, but as far as I'm concerned, he's an A$$hole to deal with from a business standpoint! Many have sent dollars and have gotten nothing in return but GRIEF! Delivery dates that aren't met, ammo that hasen't been shipped, orders that haven't been filled, and no recourse except for talking into an answering machine, or some bimbo who doesn't know her own hair color, let alone the time of day! Let's give it up on A-Square until Alphin proves he's at least worthy of a persons business! Bill T.
