Obviously you can order a barrel kit with all the extra trimmings qtr. Rib etc.

One quick question: other than the slightly larger bore diameter, how does the compare to/improve upon the .500 A-2?

Pac-Nor doesn't list a .550 barrel on their web page. It sure does look interesting and I just saw a nice Rem 30 Express in the Pawn shop this past week. I have too many Irons in the fire at the present though.

2. Heavier bullets.

3. More powder capacity.

4. More energy.

5. More momentum.

6. More tissue displacement.

= quicker kills of dangerous game.

I will continue to work on the pictures and get them uploaded as soon as I can.

Pacnor does not list this yet . If things continue to go as well as they have been other barrel companies would have to notice.

just speculating, could this brass be cut down to 2.5", with an oal around 3.3?

this would allow using an enfield (yes, it can fit the longer) or even a mauser.

You would have to cut case to 2.5 inches, put in a
.550 bullet and then measure Neck.It may be a little bigger diameter that the 3.00 inch case as brass may be thicker.
If the neck is too big so there isn't enough slant to the sides, then you will have to ream the neck.
Once you have that measurement then put it on drawing
with the regular Weatherby rim, belt, base dimensions, and
2.5 in long.It is always best to wildcat, with the case done first, then drawings, then reamers.I have to get more
Weatherby brass to experiment with.Ed.

Right now Hawk bullets will make from 500gr to 900gr bullets in .035" and .065" jacket.

I have ordered and paid for 10,000 bullets jacket for Alaska bullets, next will be the bullets dies and the main order from them will be 700gr.

Woodliegh said that he would make bullets once we could get a small order together and let him know what weights e wanted.

I just heard back from the makers of the GPA bullets and they will start making bullets for the 550 Magnum for a small start up fee for there tooling. I think 650gr or 700gr would be the place to start and we can go from there. Check out there web page and let me know what everyone thinks.
