Price for .375 Ruger Alaskan
I will be moving to Alaska in the spring and and wanting to know what the selling price is for the Ruger Alaskan (Stainless with composite stock) in .375R in the Anchorage area gunshops. I have guns I can ship there but I am thinking it may just be better to buy one there instead of the hassle of shipping them.
Currently stationed in Hawaii and all my guns are in MN. So I would need to fly there to get them shipped.Frowner
Thanks,
WW

RIP
That's very good in Alaska. They are $805 in Kentucky.

Back in the eighties I shipped a smaller collection via May Flower and Uncle Sam (crates of all household goods trucked to a cargo ship along with one POV boated) to Alaska from Missouri. When I left Alaska with a larger collection, Wink I drove a 26-foot U-Haul box-bed truck with my guns packed in hardcases, and gunsafes, declared them at the borders and passed freely through Canada. Can you still do that nowadays?

Handguns were verboten into Canada back then.
I packed those in hard pistol cases and boxed them all in a cardboard box and mailed it from FFL in Alaska to FFL in Florida.

Alaska to Florida is a 13 day drive with wife and 2 kids. They always preferred flying after that trip.

By myself it was 6 days and 23 hours.
Water, coffee, MRE's, motel everyother night, 900 miles per day no faster than 55 mph back then and often much slower on the ALCAN or Cassiar.

I drove it oneway 6 times, winter and summer. That was living! Gorgeous scenery. Gasoline usually at worst every 200 miles back then. thumb

Thanks guys. $800 sounds like a decent price. The way it looks it would be easier to buy one once I get there. I have shipped guns all over the world and it gets to be a PITA!!! I bet I've spent enough on shipping over the years to buy several nice guns. Heck, while stationed in Okinawa, I think I mailed 28 guns back to the states that I bought there.
I do plan on getting my plane, that I store on my farm in MN and flying it up in May, then coming back to MN in Oct-Nov for deer hunting. I will then get my truck and trailer to bring up my Argo and any other stuff I think I may want to have up there. I have looked at transporting my guns through Canada and from what I understand I will need to get a permit ahead of time and then declare them at the border. The other option is to drive to Washington state and taking the ferry up to Alaska.
I have several handguns I would like to bring but may just leave them here to avoid the hassles. I've got a couple of 44 Mags at our present duty station (Hawaii) that will be getting shipped with household goods so maybe that's all I need.
