Gents:

For those of us LHs out there, I was on the phone with CZ this morning. I was told the company intends to offer the LH 550 next in either 416 Rigby or the 458 Lott and then in 30 06 and 270.

Good news.

+1
But if they do, I will for sure be buying a Rigby

30+ years experience tells me that perfection hit at .264. Others are adequate but anything before or after is wishful thinking.

welll, George that was the attitude of a lot of folks when CZ talked about this for years. I have a LH 375 and it is an excellent rifle.

George S,

due to your comments here, CZ has said they will not sell you any! So there!

Anything about price? Hopefully the gouging will lessen.

Hey, I saw a LH 550 at least a year ago. So they are for real; just don't know if/when they might hit the streets.

I saw my first at SCI Reno in January. Then in June Wayne at AHR had some at his shop. Everything is mirror image, and a completely different action, stock, etc.

I received my 375 Lefty from AHR in April of this year, they did a fine job with the upgrades.

Next build will be a 505 Gibbs. I hate buying the rifle for the donor action but being left handed I have limited choices.

$1500 +/- is a lot for a CZ.

Mike,

How did Wayne deal with the scope mounts?
07 November 2009, 05:07
MikeBurke
I bought Talley Quick Detachable rings and installed the scope, no mods to the bases that I can see.

but the cutout on mine is backwards from the RH version and when I turn the rings around like half of it hangs over the ejection port.

would you mind posting a pic of your's?

MikeBurke
The cutout is on the right side of the rifle.

Well, I'm behind the times. Didn't know they were already out. Sorry.

jsl3170,

Use the Warne detachables for the LH CZ. Their dogleg is in the middle of the ring and will work for both righties and lefties. They make a good, stout set of rings.

so, just call Warne and tell them I want a set of detachable mounts for the CZ 550 magnum and regardless of whether the rifle is RH or LH they'll work??
09 November 2009, 04:57
Bitterroot
Yes, that is what I have been using on the LH's.
They work just fine.

I sure wish I could warm up to CZ rifles because they chamber for some great cartridges. Lou

Dr Lou, like the cowboy with shite on his mustache: you've been looking (for love) in the wrong place. Check out the modified CZ's that Wayne at AHR builds.

I feel sorry for you lefty guys. I would guess that there is a left hand rifle every now and then.
