How many of you find that having a safety on the right side for a righthanded person is a problem? And if so, what have you replaced the original with? I find it strange that if this is such a big problem, that few rifle makers offer a leftside righthanded safety. I know that Ritterbusch makes such a safety for his very expensive actions, but I can't say I've seen many others...
What do you guys think? I can't say that having a safety on the right side has ever bothered me really.

GeorgeSIt's never bothered me. I guess he had to find something to gripe about.

SlingsterAs I wrote to Don, it's all a matter of training. I was trained to leave the thumb on the right side of the stock, so the right side safety works just fine. He obviously was trained to put his thumb over the wrist of the stock, probably on a classic Mauser wing safety, so for him the left side safety would make more sense.
In a subsequent issue of AH, he printed my e-mail and tried my thumb placement. While he initially expressed reservations about not having a strong enough grip on the rifle with a right side thumb hold, he acknowledged after trying it that it works well and should definitely be considered by those who use rifles with right side safeties.
