.405 Win
I want one! I was checking out the 95 repro and it is a nice rifle, but it is made in Japan. For me personally it is hard to stomach a Japanese made Winchester. So here is the question, can a Marlin 1895 or a Winchester 86 be rebarreled for a .405 or is the OAL to much? Also I am thinking of the Ruger No. 1. Did this get made in blued steel and walnut? All I seem to find are stainless ones. Is there another route to a US made .405 winchester that will keep the cost reasonable? Thanks

From a personal viewpoint, I'd go for the walnut and blue #1! I have an original Win. 95 and a Jap win.95, .....and I do like them both. But last spring I ordered a pair of #1's (one is slated to be rechambered to 450/400) and they finally arrived a month ago. And I have to say, I prefer the #1! It's nicely balanced, shoots under an inch, will handle a much hotter load, has no appreciable felt recoil, and just feels right!!! As long as the #1 is available (and it is, you just have to look or order) why dick around creating something that will still be an orphan?

Thanks guys, I didn't realize that Ruger was still making the .405 in blued and walnut. I like that route the best so far. Is there a bolt action that it would work in?
