a.tinkererWho's got a 600NE case and a caliper handy?
Hi Guys-
I'm interested to hear the actual base diameter of whatever 600NE brass you have in hand.
If you have a telescoping gage or a bore gage and feel like it I'd like to get the ID specs down there near the base too -- I'm looking for actual wall thickness as close you can get to the case head, and at about 2" up from the rim.
I'd also like to hear the head thickness.
Thanks a bunch!

a.tinkerer,
I have one Bertram case:
Headstamp:
"600 Nitro" at the north pole
2 kangaroos at either side of the equator
"BB" at the south pole
Measurements by me with calipers applied to one Bertram case:
rim diameter: .806"
.805" .810" rim thickness: .058"
not given .065" base diameter: .696"
.697" .700" neck OD (unsized): .649"
max .648" max .650" neck wall thickness: .018"
case length: 2.986"
max 3.00" max 3.000" COTW spec added in green above
A-Square spec added in red above.
CIP Bible specs, maximums unless otherwise stated:
rim diameter: 20.57 mm = .8098"
rim thickness: 1.65 mm - 0.25 mm = 0.0650" - 0.0098"= max .0650"/min .0552"
base: 17.78 mm = 0.7000"
neck/case mouth OD: 16.51 mm = 0.6500"
brass case length: 76.20 mm = 3.0000"
You are on your own for the rest of it. I am not going to cut up my one case.

a.tinkererThanks RIP-
Very much appreciated.
I'll be going to Reno in a couple of weeks with my usual pocket kit of caliper, micrometer, and telescoping gages.
Maybe I'll get a chance to handle some other brands of this brass there. With the telescoping gages and a caliper with a depth probe I can get very close to blueprint of a cartridge case.
