SpringHeym 88B...Any thoughts?
I'm considering buying my first double rifle and may not wait on the perfect British gun to show up...Ive heard a little bit about a Heym 88B. Any thoughts on how it compares to other guns in its price range?

700 nitroif you have the money for a 88b you will be far happier witha searcy rifletrust me i owen 2 of them and love them
i have shot a 88b and liked it but the searcys are a far better gun very rugged and beautiful at the same time
plus for the same money you can get many differnt chamberings far more than that offered by heym i say you were going to get a searcy for 9500 for the same price you could get a 500 nitro and fora small upgrade fee a 577 nitro
you can get a ph grade 577 nitro for 11,000. thats not bad and his guns are more than worth it.
in fact he has a delux grade 577 nitro for sale right now for 15,000
by the way o owen a 500 nitro ph grade and a 700 nitro box lock underlever both guns are great shooters

500grainsThere was a guy over on
www.nitroexpress.com complaining that his new Heym 470 was doubling, but other than that I have not heard anything negative on the Heym. Safari12 (Adam Clements) who posts on AR has a Heym and likes it.

700 nitrothe 577.....600.....and 700......all have there place in the elephant field but these are very specilized cartriges for those who are very specilized
for instance for a person like me who has no interested in anything but buffalo elephant and hippo the 500 577 600 and 700 make sence.
i will use the 700 as my heavy and the 500 as my general pourpose all round hunting rifle.
they are not just some rich boys toys. lets see here the 500 can be had for 9500 the 577 for 11000 thats 1500$theres a huge difference there.and for those who want a nicer looking rifle a delux can be had for a mere 3-4k more.

surestrikeI'll second the comment on the Searcy doubles. I've got a field grade, (Now called the PH model) in .470NE. I'm very happy with it.
PS
Hey .700 I looked at and handled your .700NE at the SCI show in Reno. Dude I hope you're a bad totally tough dude that thing is heavy!!! I couldn't imagine carrying that rifle all day without some type of special double shouldered sling set up. Nice looking rifle though...
