Lar45African ammo availibility?
Hi all, which calibers of big bore ammo would be most likely to be found in Africa for a bolt action? I was thinking about a 475 RUM but it doesn't look like there would be enough sholder to work well. I'm thinking that the 375RUM would cover alot more options if Saeed is hammering buff's with his 375-404.

GeorgeSGun shops are few and far between in Africa. You're lucky to find any near a concession in Zim or Tanzania; there are more of them in South Africa, but the ones I visited were not all that well-stocked: plenty of surplus 5.56mm, lots of .270Win., .30-06, 7mmRem., and .300Win., and some .375.

500nitroLAr,
if you are worried about ammo, do as George says and stick to the run of the mill stuff.
The calibres you mention would be regarded as "exotic" in South Africa and I doubt whether any shops would stock the ammo. A lot of the bigger shops here cater to a large variety of calibres but unless there is a big demand for the rifle and ammo they will not stock it.
As to the countries north of here, you don't stand a snowballs hope in hell!
