Carl Akeley
I have read Carl Akeley's work, "In Brightest Africa," and enjoyed it. I recently found his biography written by a lady who was curator at the American Museum of Natural History, where some of his work remains on display.
"Carl Akeley, Africa's Collector, Africa's Savior."
Not as exciting as some of the hunting work we discuss here, but an interesting story of his life and work, and his development of taxidermy techniques unique to his time.

I haven't been to the Field Museum in in 30 years and was wondering if they still had the little exhibit of the skin of the leopard which he killed with his bear hands? It ripped him up a bit before he strangled it. He was definitly an interesting man and what a life and time to live.

I have not been to the Field museum, but visited the American Museum of Nat Hist in NY in Sept. His work is well represented there.
