Book about the north country.
I'm in need of some new reading material. After rereading my copies of "Last of the great brown bear men" and "Alaska's wolf man", I'm in search of of similar stories about the north. It could be either Alaska or northern Canada. In fact I've run into darn few books that are from Canada's north country.

So any ideas on good stories on this?

I took your advice and bought a copy of:

Alaskan-Yukon Trophies Won and Lost
Book by George Orville Young

I have to thank you for that. It was one of the most interesting hunting, adventure, survival stories I've read in a while. What an adventure from beginning to end. At any point any one of them could have been killed and in fact one of the hunters did in fact die soon after.

If anyone hasn't read it I highly recommend it.

My 2 cents...."Men of the last frontier" by Gry Owl. Made a big impression on me as a kid....Later learnt that Grey Owl was actually a Scotsman! Still a good read

Speaking of books, does anyone remember a book about a guy who may have been from either Norway or Sweden and spent the winter trapping? I remember in the story a polar bear trying to drag him out the window near his bed while in his sleeping bag.

I read it when I was a teenager but for the life of me can't remember the title. Does that ring a bell with anyone?
