Dangerous-Game Rifles
For those interested, Terry Wieland has a new book out, "Dangerous-Game Rifles". I have only just began the book, but all indications are that it will be a good one. I really enjoy Terry's writings and the premise for this book lends itself to his style easily. Basically, Terry, Finn Aagaard, Jack Carter, Terry Henley booked a hunt with Robin Hurt to test Jack's then-new Bear Claws on Cape Buff.

Lots of nice pictures too! 333 pages of text, tables, pictures, and details of hunts. Foreward by Robin Hurt.

Terry usually attends the SCI conventions, and I suspect Country Sport will have a booth. I'll wait until January and have him sign my copy.

I met Terry at the ACGG show a few years ago and was really kicking myself for not even thinking he might be at SCI or ACGG. I have really enjoyed my copy of "Spiral Horn Dreams".

Is there a chance Terry would go to the DSC show?

Juan:

Terry is a Canadian who writes about firearms and hunting. He has written several books. One that I remember is on fine Spanish shotguns, another is titled "Spiral Horn Dreams" (about Africa's premiere antelope), and still another is on Robert Ruark.

He is not a professional hunter but he has spent a lot of time knocking around all over Africa over the past 30 years or so.

He's a nice guy despite all that. Introduce yourself and say I sent you if you run across him in your part of the world.

"Is there a chance Terry would go to the DSC show?"

It would depend, I think, upon whether Country Sport exhibits there. I can track down his e-mail address and ask him if you want.

Actually, if I were a firearms writer like Terry, I'd go to Reno because -- unlike Dallas -- virtually all of the world's best gunmakers will be there and he's primarily a gunwriter.

Reno also has knife and engraving shows and the Weatherby dinner and APHA meetings.

I met Terry at the ACGG show in Reno a few years ago. I hate to assume, but do assume, that he probably makes the SCI ACGG event each year, maybe?

Spiral Horn Dreams is a fantastic read, I think.

I can't remember not seeing Terry at an SCI show in a long, long time.
