Idaho SharpshooterBorn A Hunter...
The Mailman stopped by today and left my limited edition of Dwight Van Brunt's first book: "Born A Hunter". There is a trade edition, but I sprung for the extra couple dollars for the Leather-bound 1 of 350 autographed and slip covered ones. It is offered by Sporting Classics. Back in December I ordered it, and the Lady said I was lucky, they were about out. Sure enough, it is serial number 349 out of 350. Noted pro-hunting artist Jocelyn Russell did the cover of Dwight's over fifty-one inch Cape Buffalo, and the drawings for each chapter. Her artwork alone is worth the cover price. She captures the spirit of the animals she draws.
Many of you associate the name Dwight Van Brunt with Kimber Rifles, and Dwight had heavy input convincing them to build the Caprivi and Talkeetna models.
It is a fascinating book about a hunter's life. Well written, one can almost close their eyes and be with him on these hunts.
The book starts off wonderful, Craig Boddington wrote the two page introduction. That should be enough of a recommendation.
Absolutely wonderful book, by a man who has "Been there, done that, and got the T-shirt...".
