flaco"...Efficiency's Assault On Beauty...."
Once again indebted to my brother, this time for his birthday gift, "Casting A Spell, The Bamboo Fly Rod And The American Pursuit Of Perfection."
He delivered a copy on Friday, and I was up most of last night finishing the book.
I won't write a full review, but will point out similarities between fly rod builders and custom gun smiths.
You'll read about a lot of familiar places, and come across familiar names.
In lieu of the review, here's a back cover blurb by Richard Manning: "'Casting A Spell' is a brave title, a signal that the author has set this task for himself. Yet because the book's craftsmanship is at least the equal of it's subject's we are indeed spellbound. This is not just a fishing tale; it's a finely wrought investigation of the major battle of our time: efficiency's assault on beauty."
