Townsend's Whelen Gun Catalog and Handbook
I recently was given a Whelen Gun Catalog and Handbook. There is a picture of two buck pronghorns on the cover. It is a tenth edition according to the foward by Mr. Whelen. Does anyone know what year this edition came out? I am thinking early fifties. It is 168 pages long. Are these collectable? Thanks

I'm surprised there isn't a date on it but I think you could probably work out the year by tracking the ISBN number on it.

I don't really know about value but would expect it to worth just a few dollars...... but I'd suggest searching on ebay or Google for that.

Here's a 1939 edition being offered on e-bay for US$15.95

Steve,

Thanks for the information. I don't think there is an ISBN number on it either. I saw three listed on Amazon from $25 - 65. One was a fifth edition. I couldn't tell what editions the other two books were. I am going to keep this copy because it is pretty cool.

I always expect those older publications to be worth a lot more than they are..... I've got about eight magazines from 1943-45 about the British & american forces and would expect them to be worth a reasonable amount of money but the truth is they're worth just a few dollars each. Confused

Frankly, I wouldn't sell them because of sentimental value but nevertheless, it's somehow a disappointment that they're not worth a lot more.
