What a fun DVD! This is different from the one he put together on elephant hunting - more hunting sequences (not just bang, flop type scenes). Well done, well edited, excellent photography. Did a good job capturing the essence of croc and hippo hunting.

A suprising part to me was the section on elephant hunting with a bow, a hand-gun and a muzzle-loader. The guy doing the bow hunting is frequent poster here on AR and I would love to hear his views on being on the DVD. The handgun sequence and the blackpowder sequence were interesting as I thought Buzz would be taking back up shots on each. He had a very suprised look on his face when the hunter made a one shot kill with the blackpowder double.

There are a couple of good leopard hunts with dogs with the leopard being taken with a bow.

There is a guy featured twice on in different parts of the DVD that is shooting a double rifle. He makes a couple of very good brain shots but has a "different" manner about him. He struck me as an accountant type - meek, mild, etc.- but to see him shoot his double up close and personal on a charge - I decided not to judge "a book by its cover" - he was one cool customer.

All in all, this is a fun DVD, not meant to be instructional, just hunting entertainment. It is worth the $40 and you can get it from Safari Press.

Dogcat,

Here is a link to JB's hunt report on his elephant hunt. Anyone who can draw a 90+ pound bow gets my respect.

A little info on the sequences of the fellow with a double. The double is .500 and the gentleman is a lawyer here in Texas. Very nice fellow and I understand that he played football in college and was a quarterback. They may help explain his cool demeanor under attack.

As you say a different DVD from Buzz's elephant DVD -- which I believe is the best hunting DVD ever made -- but well worth the money.

I was very impressed with the hunters in that DVD, the lawyer from Texas has ice-water for blood - one cool customer.

I did not mention the one guy who shot an elephant, endured a charge that resulted in a second elephant being shot. His comment after that reminded me of my own comment after a close encounter with the buff- "I am getting a lot more excitement than I paid for!!!"
