Rolf Baldus wrote: Bill Harvey was the first warden of the Selous Game Reserve. He served from 1928 to 1938 and was the predecessor of Ionides and Brian Nicholson. While a Japanese Prisoner of war in Malaysia in WW II he wrote down his memories of adventures, hunting and conservation on every piece of paper he could find. His son Perry later put it together as a manuscript and asked me for publication, when I was still working in the Selous. I have produced it now as a private print and limited edition. It is a non-profit-project and its main intention is to document the early history of the Selous.
