In The Footsteps of Mr. Kurtz is a brilliantly written book about the Congo. Author is Michela Wrong. While the book is about Mobutu and the Congo, the ills described and the methods African invent to cope with kleptocracies is very, very well portrayed and applicable to a number of countries. I highly recommend it.
