New Ruark Biography released today

SC-SportsmanNew Ruark Biography released today
Got a note from Jim Casada yesterday saying that the new Ruark biography,
Ruark Remembered, is now available. Jim says that he will be receiving copies from the publisher today, and you can order a copy through his website. The deluxe edition, with a bookplate signed by Harry Selby, is due next week.
I've been excited about this book for some time; since I live just down the road from Jim I'm hoping to get my copy tomorrow.

SC-SportsmanI believe the "tipped in" means that the signed bookplate is either pasted in the book or is slid in place via small slits in one of the pages.
My copy of the trade edition just arrived... looks really well done. The photo pages are exceptionally clear. Can't wait to get started reading it.

tipped - lightly glued to affix along one edge

billrquimbyOday450 and SC-Sportsmen are correct. It's a technique used by most publishers of "signed by the author" books.
The authors do not have to open each book and autograph them. (Thank God!) They receive a stack of single sheets to sign, and the publisher has the sheets "tipped in."

billinthewildI guess "tipped in" is better than not being in at all. But it cannot compare with a book that is flat signed by the author if such is available. My preference would be with Ritchie's signature and Casada's as well....

SBTI have received my "deluxe" copy of this book and it is very nice. I haven't begun to read it yet, but it looks like a great book.
As to "tipped in", it consisted of a signed photograph loose inside the cover of the book. It is not attached.

SBTI've started this book and it is very good. The only thing that bothers me, and it really bothers me, is that the "tipped" in photo keeps sliding out.
Would it be a problem (collector value etc) if I glued it into the book? If I should glue it, where does it belong?

PSmithI just finished the book and it was surprisingly good. Jim Casada did a great job editing, the photos are great, it's nice to have Selby's autograph, and I think it is written very well for a non-professional writer.
