Selling books; ascertaining value?
Normally if I stumble across something to sell with which I have little to no knowledge a quick poll of a few online resources will normally get me pointed in the right direction.

I have met my match, firearms books.

Example, I have a very nice copy of London Gunmakers by Nigel Brown that I am considering selling. The book, if I remember correctly is marked $120. Amazon has them listed from $128 to $1,600 Roll Eyes. Ebay one sold recently for $45. So... ?

Some are not shall we say, rare, but less common, such as Rhode Island Arms Makers & Gunsmiths, American Engravers, and The Art of the Gunmaker Vol. I & II.

However, I have literally several boxes of books I want to sell, some as plain as older gun digest books.

I wish to ascertain a value, that which is fair to me and the buyer, in which we both come away happy. Any suggestions?

I have found Amazon to be the best and go through the 2nd hand list which can be tedious but worth it if you need to try to find the right volume.

Then list them on a gun forum, you'll soon know if you are too high !!!

Abebooks.com is a good place to check.

The rarer something is, the harder to ascribe value.

A one of a kind whatever is the most difficult.

I just picked up an old collection of Gun digest books, including first and second years. I have a few years missing as well as some duplicates. I'd be interesting in hearing what years you have to sell.
