Review of 'The Shooter's Guide to Rifle Marksmanship
Hi all,

We've posted a review of 'The Shooter's Guide to Rifle Marksmanship' on our blog.

It's one of the best books on hunting related marksmanship I've come across. I thoroughly recommend it and thought I'd share the review with you.

Please see the review below.

The Shooter's Guide to Rifle Marksmanship

This is one of the best books about practical rifle marksmanship we've read. It's a no-nonsense approach to shooting rifles in the field, primarily for hunting.

Peter Lessler is a great teacher and his explanations of marksmanship principles and shooting positions are easily understood. The book is a must for novice rifle shooters, and a great source of advice for more experienced shots.

The core skills and positions presented in the book are by no means new, as the author states himself. But, Peter Lessler has a wealth of practical knowledge. This, together with step-by-step guides, makes the book a first class training tool. The fundamentals are covered, as are detailed tips, tricks and interesting observations.

The book is structured in 18 chapters:

Chapter 1. What are we trying to accomplish?
Chapter 2: Rifles and cartridges
Chapter 3: The mind of the rifle shooter
Chapter 4: Sights and aiming
Chapter 5: Trajectory and exterior ballistics
Chapter 6: Trigger management
Chapter 7: Position shooting principles
Chapter 8: The shooting loop sling
Chapter 9-12: Prone, sitting, kneeling/squatting and standing positions
Chapter 13: Bipods, sticks and field rests
Chapter 14: Terminal ballistics
Chapter 15: Dealing with wind
Chapter 16 The ethical long range hunter
Chapter 17: Practice drills
Chapter 18: Competition and professional training

We could talk all day about this book, but it's probably better you get it from the source. It will suffice to say that it's is a must have reference guide for rifle hunters who want to better themselves when shooting in the field.
