Mercy among the children
By David Richard Adams

This book isn't hunting related, but is a fictional account of a poor family in rural New Brunswick, and their trials and tribulations, mostly attributable to people in gov't positions who insist on doing things to the family "for their own good", though most often rather than helping the family, it really just ended up bolstering the ego of the interfering official (can anyone say "liberal"?).

In other cases, it was people who abused the family because they knew they could get away with it, due to the family's low status in the community.

It's an interesting examination of the way that people use and ABUSE their power over other people.
