Big fan of the movie so decided to read the book. And not disappointed! A rather ribald and scandalous read from 1985 but so good. Highly recommend

I am not familiar with the title. Can you give a thumbnail sketch concerning the subject matter?

Circa 1650 A young devout Jesuit is sent far into the interior on a mission to the Huron and to relieve a distant outpost. A party of Algonquin agree to land him there by canoe. Culture and religion clash in this difficult journey, where enemy tribes aren’t the only danger.
