Re: How Good Are Merkel Shotguns compared to Berretta
My local gunshop has a Merkel Drilling with 2 - 12 Guage barrels with a 30-06 barrel under them for $9,000. It has a color case hardened reciever and is beautiful. They have atleast 10 Berreta o/u's ranging in price from $10,000 to close to $50,000. The Merkel looks better than the similarly priced Berretas But nowhere near as good as the higher end models.
I personaly like Berreta because of their close to 500 years of heritage and tradition, plus they make a great bunch of guns.

I know very little about high priced shotguns other than I like them and like drooling over them and dreaming.

Another gunshop in town has a Hugulu SXS and it looks and handles better to me than a Berreta o/u. The Hugulu I looked at only costs $700 U.S. Dollars. I think it is made in Turkey. Looks to be of good quality, but like I said before I am no shotgun judge.
