Electronic Sights For Shotguns
I see some shotguns equipped with electronic sights (e.g., Aimpoint and the like). How does this work, which type & brand of sights, and who puts them on? Are they better - that is, more accurate - than traditional beaded sights? AIU

I have a couple on guns set up for 3 gun, as they help a lot with shooting slugs.

For me, they hinder my wingshooting/moving targets. I'm looking at the dot, not the bird.

I do best with a properly set up gun and just concentrating on the bird, I don't even see the dot or the sight.

I have had a tasco optima (or one of the variants) on 2 guns and a EOtech on one.

There is a mount that will be basically a shim between the stock and the rear of the receiver that works OK. The way that worked the best for me was to cut a chunk out of the vent rib and then mount the sight mount with epoxy/some sort of super adhesive to the barrel so that the dot is pretty much right were the bead would be. It looks homely, but is the best solution I have found so far.

I know a few guys who just put one of the scope style dots on the gun and built up a monte carlo cheekpiece to get the proper eye positioning. Those work as well, but make the gun balance really odd.

Thanks crbutler - appreciate the information. I do note that some use these sights for wing shooting. Regards, AIU
