anybody shoot a 10 gauge?
in the last few years i"ve shot both a sxs and an o/u for pheasants and wlked up rough shooting, both 12 gauge.
this summer i hope to shoot clays at least every few weeks(with my o/u sporter), rather than just pick up a shotgun when the autumn comes.
basically, i don"t realy need my 12 gauge sxs, and i"d thought about trading it for a 10 gauge.
this is purely for fun, and i"m trying to justify it as a wildfowling gun. i"ll have to reload my shells, but it"s not the kind of gun you shoot a lot.
i"m thinking of a cheap boxlock sxs non ejector(as long as it fits me reasonably well)
anybody out there got a ten? what do you think of it? how much better is it than a 12?
does it cause nose bleeds, amnesia and concusion?

I have 3. A Remington Sp-10 Autoloader with 20" sighted barrel for slugs and turkey and a 26" barrel for game both with screw in chokes. There is an H &R 36" full single shot and an Elbar Side by side that has been cut off at 18" for home protecion and cowboy action shooting.
I started loading my own shotshells last year, I generally use my 10 for everything-- even shoot some clays with it. Because the guns are heavy, recoil is not a problem, even with slugs or buckshot. The screw in chokes make the Sp-10 useful for any type game. The full choke on the single makes it unuseful on rabbits or squirrels at under 30 yards. The side by side is good to 30 yeards with no choke-- shoots buckshot great.

i"m thinking 30"-32" barrels with 1/2-full choke. it"s not going to be a very "lively" gun for fast close shooting anyway, so i may as well have the range.
i"d probably only be using no6 shot(i"m not sure what our(UK)no6 equates to in US terms.
here in Northern Ireland we can still use lead for wildfowling.

I use my Browning Gold Autoloader for geese and turkeys---bigger is better!

The kick is not too bad in an autoloader.

Shooting a Browning BPS NWTF gun. For Turkey of course. I love it. Moved my 870 Mag Express Turkey Gun to backup position.
