DB BillWinchester Model 42 Eye-Candy
I've seen shabbier pieces if wood.

Should have mentioned 26" Full Choke made in 1937. The Old Girl has aged well.
I'll post some pics of her younger sister a little later.

Kyler HamannBill,
I'm always impressed by your good taste.
Kyler
It is almost unbelievable that a tree can yield such results.
Simmons is now making solid ribs for the Mod. 12/42 crowd. Seems to be high demand.

DB BillThis is her younger (1947) sister ... I actually like this wood a bit better and as it has a modified choke I actually shoot it a bit better ... crunches skeet targets when I'm having a good day.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.
NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.
I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

Simmons is now doing Winchester style solid ribs for the 12's and 42's. Pretty cool looking.

DB BillThere are a lot of places that do a much nicer job than Simmons when it comes to Model 12's but especially Model 42's. Almost every gun I've seen "done" by Simmons has been buffed much to hard and there work is priced on the high end --- they do seem to get the work done quickly.

338zmagVery nice! Although I have to say that I am not fond of a lot of checkering. It covers up so much beautiful wood (just my opinion). One of these days I am going to get a custom stock and no checkering. I met a guy at Ozark Shooters sporting range (near Branson, MO) and he had a beautiful piece of wood that he was having made into a stock and he said he would not have it checkered.
Unfortunately, for some reason, I do not have the privilege of posting pics here or I would show you one of my guns which has some nice wood too. May not be quite as nice as Bill's though. however, if you want to see a pair of guns with beautiful wood, check this link.

Here is their new solid rib and a round post/donut rib on Model 42's. Pretty nice work in anybody's book.
Simmons will have a booth in Tulsa this weekend. Stop by and have a look.
