How's that for good customer service
So some months ago I bought a 1926 John dickson & son 12 gauge sidelock ejector.

The gun appeared to be slightly off the face when I bought it so I sent it to a specialist shotgun gunsmith in Pretoria who took a look and told me it wasn't off the face as such but did have a slightly buggered top spring.

I guess that's not surprising after something like 86 years....... I called John Dickson & son in Scotland and asked them to send me a new one..... which arrived today with a compliment slip and no bill.

not many companies in the world that'll give you a spare part free of charge because the original part was worn out after 86 years of use!

I take my hat off to the company! tu2

I think that tops them all for customer service. Amazing.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

The funny thing is, the gunsmith sent me an email telling me about the spring being weak and commented he didn't think it was a very good design...... so I mentioned that in an email to Dicksons.......... their response was "please tell your gunsmith that the design can't be that bad if it took 86 years to start failing!" rotflmo

BTW one of y'all's math is off. Either the shotgun wasn't made in 1926 or the spring ain't 86 years inside the shotgun. Just sign me "fact checker". Wink

That's the difference, it obviously wasn't designed to last but 84 years and that's why they replaced it for free. Big Grin

Yup. Probably.

Alternatively, it could be the spring was made two years before the rest of the gun!! rotflmo

It speaks volumes of the esteem in which the manufacturer holds its products that they would supply, for free no less, a part for an 84 year-old product.

You can't even get a car charger for an 84 WEEK-old cell phone Big Grin
