Which shotgun
I have a 1187 in 12ga that I'm pretty sure I bought in 1989. I love the shotgun and have no trouble with it except for an o-ring every three years or so. I'd like ot get another shotgun and was considering the Benelli Ultra-Lite or the Beretta Extrema. This time it would be in 20 ga.. Any suggestions on which one to get? Thanks for the replies. PaLuke

Both good guns and I don't think you'd have a problem with either. The decision should be based on personal feel and fit. Shoulder both and see which fits you better.

I believe the Benelli is a bit lighter.

The Benelli Montefeltro is a light weight 12g that you will really like shooting. Benelli makes great shotguns, low maintenance recoil actions (compared to the gas 1100). I have my 1100 purchased 35 years ago, just used it last season for Dove. Really like the Benelli and Beretta, much softer shooting 12g.

The Xtrema II is only available in 12g.

Hegins is a nice area.

Do I read you correctly - do recoil operated shotguns deliver less felt recoil than gas operated? Do others share this opinion?

Absolutely NOT! Frowner

My heaviest felt recoiling 20 gauge is my new Benelli M2, the softest is my Remington 1100 LT20. The 6.2 to 6.7 lb. 20 gauge break open guns are in between.

In 12 my Beretta Extrema II is far softer than My sons Benelli SBE II with all shells, 2 3/4 through 3 1/2 and every load weight we've tried.
