Darne R12
Hi, this is the shotgun I use to hunt feathers.

It is the 24 caliber of the year 1955.
I am the third owner, the first restored the wood; The metals are in good original condition.
It is a beautiful shot for your purpose.

I would really like to own a Darne, but they are just too darn expensive now!

Hi Peter.

The prices usually go down ?.
They are beautiful shotguns, very light 2.6 kg.

Its closures, very robust.
The high-grade ones are really beautiful.

Best regards.

Hi Peter, I live in Argentina, there are also few Darne here.

At Guns International, I have seen several at a good price.

Best regards.

I had an R12 for a while in 16 ga. Fit and shot fine, but I am a hinge-action fan, and typically carry my gun open until the dog tells me there is a bird nearby. This action was just too awkward to make me comfortable with it. Finally sold it to someone who needed one for his collection more than I did.

Hi Jimmy J.

I agree with you, it is a strange action for this type of weapons.
I think not everyone gets used to it.

Best regards.

Manuel.

I have a Darne R 14 in 28 ga. ALso have a Charlin 16ga, another French sliding breech model. It is incredibly smooth as the sliding breech really rolls on hidden ball bearings. The way it locks up is not as strong as the Darne.
