Dear All,
Does anyone know where (who) I could turn to for gaining information on my Consolidated Stores Limited, 4-gauge, single barrel shotgun. I have been told that Consolidated Stores Limited was the British equivalent of Abercrombie & Fitch. The gun has a Jones Underlever and is Pre-1900. I would like information about this beauty (I can post pics if someone can help me).

500straightThis huge 4-bore single shotgun by Consolidated Stores Ltd is pictured above. This is a true 4-bore: barrel is 1.037" in diameter. The barrel is 42 1/2" long, the weight is 15 pounds and 6 ounces, and the barrel is Damascus. The hole in the buttstock is for a lanyard rope and is common on many of the shotguns used in boats for waterfowl. The hammer is rebounding with the Jones under lever. Condition is excellent as refinished. Engraved "Civil Service" on top of barrel. Some pits under forend--common on guns used around salt water. Some proud metal is around the top strap but not too bad. 4-bore single shots are far more rare than double 4s but the price is far less. The chambers are 4 inches long. I would guess this gun is from the early 1890s.
