YaleReloading 3" Magnum 12 Gauge
Ladies and Gentlemen:
I want to reload my 3" 12 gauge magnum shells for turkeys.
While perusing the Hodgdon and Accurate reloading booklets, I noticed that they discuss "basewads" and filler wads for 3" shells. Some are mentioned as 7/16" thick.
Where can I get a good shotshell reloading manual that explains all this "basewad" stuff?
I do reload 12 gauge 2 3/4", and have for years.
Sincerely,
Chris Bemis

Joe HunterI would suggest you get a copy of Lyman's Shotshell Handbook. The 3rd edition has an article by Tom Roster on buffered lead loads that you will probably be intested in reading.
I believe he also publishes a Buffered Lead Shotshell Reloading Manual too.
You might also want to check out Ballistic Products or Precision Reloading info/manuals.
Good luck.

YaleDear Joe:
Well, I did it.
I bought the "5th" edition Lyman book, spoke with Precision Reloading (placed an order), have the RSI book on the way, and ordered steel shot reloading components from Graf and Sons and an RSI dealer in Utah.
I'll know more after I load and shoot in the coming weeks.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Chris Bemis
