badsworthReloading Subsonic shotgun shells
Does anyone have the specifications (powder, load, primers etc) for home loading subsonic 12G shells please?
I have a 12g 'Hushpower' shotgun which is very useful. Unfortunately the largest shot size commercially available in subsonic rounds over here (UK) is No 6. I want something larger - preferably BB.
The Lee Load All seems to be cheap and adequate for the small number of rounds I will need - but I need to know the 'recipe' for the shells.
Can anyone help please?

baboonWhen I seen subsonic shotgun shells I had to look. What is a "hushpower" shotgun? This thing silenced?

WOW!! Thats Crazy! You'all cannot own a pistol but, silenced shotguns are ok. Now I am not against a silenced firearm of any type. Are there any restrictions on them? Here in the U.S. it requires a tax stamp.

badsworthThere are no more restrictions on 'moderated' shotguns than any other (though 'they' have been thinking about it) - you simply apply for a certificate and pay your money. They cannot refuse you unless they can prove that you are not a fit and proper person (usually that means with criminal convictions) or have not got appropriate security (an approved spec. gun cabinet).
Over here shotguns are a lot easier to get than other firearms except air weapons. They don't have the same hangups about sound moderators either - this is a tiny and crowded Island. Moderators keep the neighbours happy and help you hang onto your hearing!
Good luck!

Skinner. The guys who make the Metro Gun barrel extensions have some data,
Hand loading Sub-SonicAnd you'd be much better served with a MEC loader or a Ponsness Warren 375 than a Lee.

badsworthSkinner - can you please tell me why the Lee Loadall would not suit? The MEC items are about three times the price over here (and I have not found anyone selling the Ponsness item yet) and It would be a very small scale production.
Thanks for the other info - you are the first to come up with a suggestion.

Skinner. The MEC and the PW hold up better and produce better shells in the long run.
You might check Ebay, I'll bet there's a few MEC's on the UK version if you look.
In the states you van find a good used MEC loader for under $50 without much trouble.
The lee apparatus is simply not versatile enough for what you need. No ability to adjust for various hulls, etc. It's basically set up to load AA's or STS's with target loads. No ability to resize, etc, etc.
About one out of every 7 or 8 guys says they are happy with it. The difference in cost is so small, go with the MEC. HTH, Dutch.
