Price range for Model 12 20 gauge

I have been overtaken by the desire to own a Model 12 in 20 ga. I haven't priced them in a while and am curious about what one would expect to pay. I want a field gun, 26-28" barrel, choke not important; I will have it opened if full or mod.I would like to have one with the modern butt stock; the old ones have too much drop. I don't want a rib (looking at 6 and a half pounds or so)and don't care about a butt pad but don't want one hacked off to accommodate someone smaller.This will be shooter so I don't care about a few dings or scrapes. Any thoughts?

The 20ga original Model 12s sell at a premium to the 12ga guns. Those without vent ribs are the cheapest. If you like the Model 12 (I love them), I'd find a used Browning Model 12 replica, made with modern steels and safety features. They go for $750-$1,000 in Grade 1, with the Grade 5 having high-0grade wood, engraving, and gold figures at $1,400-$1,750.

I see them occasionally- in this neck of the woods (plains) they bring from $700-$1200 for a decent to very good range.

In decent condition and with the wood you describe (target wood) if you found one for $500 grab it but I expect it would be a bit more.

Prices tend to be regional so you might check the on-line sites like GunBroker etc

And I'll second what Biegs said -- the little 20ga Brownings in Grade 1 are a great bargain and a gun that should last a new shooter a lifetime.

I bought this solid rib Model 12 20 Gauge cosmoline on bolt face looked unfired. Last fall very reasonable for the condition. Up here they seem to sell for $550 to 1 K,for a Model 12 20 Gauge.depending on condition and what Model of 12.

Son bought a Model 12 12 Gauge this WE for $290 at a gun show 1925 vintage, Nickel steel field model.
