choke tubes 101
I'm not much of a shotgunner, I could use some advice.

I'm planning on buying a Stoeger Coach Gun. I'll do a little rabbit hunting in thick cover, and I do at least one boar hunt a year again in thick cover.

I can get the basic coach gun that comes with an improved and modified cylinder choke or the upgrade with choke tubes. I'd think that having both barrels set up same would be best when using slugs? So is the upgrade a wise cloice? Or at close range(under 50yrds) is this a non-issue.

With modern slugs I doubt that having similar choke size would change much for slugs. I would thing either improved cylinder or modified would perform about the same.

You would gain some advantage by a larger pattern with a more open choke (cylinder) for the close range rabbits but it might not be worth the extra expense of the interchangeable choke tube upgrade.

Thanks Kyler, I've been told not to shoot a slug from a modified choke?
