ReloaderGot a Smokin' Deal on a Wing Master.......
Dropped in the gun shop earlier this week and noticed they had two WingMasters for sale. The First thing I noticed was the price tag of only 175 on them.
The one in the best condition was one of the Originals, the ones that didn't have checkering. 28" Mod. bbl, 2-3/4". It was in approx 85-90% condition and looked to be fired very little. I believe this one to be one made in the 50s?
The other was in about 70-75% shape and had the newer checkered stock.
I told the shop owner I'd give him 175 w/ tax and he took it! It's a nice shotgun.
Seemed like a smokin' deal to me, what do you fellas think?

You didn't say which Wingmaster you took. As one who hunted with a Wingmaster in the 50s and if the shotgun is not worn and has been cared for I would say you got a fair deal! (It's funny, but I can't remember today if the Wingmaster had a checkered grip in the 50s. I was still using {and buying new) Wingmasters in the 90s so I guess that's an endorsement!)

small fishMy Wingmaster was made in the very early 50's. It does not have checkering on the stock and a "corn cob" forearm. It has matching serial #'s on the reciever and bbl. 92xxV serial # (4 digit) It says "12 ga for 2 3/4" or shorter shells".
I would easily pay $175 for one.

Forgot to add something to my last post. Somebody might say that you paid more for the shotgun than it cost when new - so therefore you got a bad bargain. I ain't so sure. You got a well made shotgun - and no matter what the gun writers want to say, good gun design for hunting firearms has been long since figured out. You have a shotgun made long after Damascus and long after chilled steel has been perfected. In other words, it's only a question of how well the shotgun has been cared for. (I shot my first deer with a rifle with my father's Savage 99 ( 30-30) at age 18. The rifle then was about 45 years old but I never thought about its age. I only cared about its shape. You have a proven shotgun in good condition and at what seems a fair price. Be happy with it.

ReloaderSmall Fish,
Just like your's, corn cob grip and no checkering. It's in great shape so, I believe it was a good deal.
Then I went into a shop that just recieved a shipment of guns bought from an old police evidence room. Talk about good deals...
They had several old Wing Master's.
They had one 20 w/ the 28" mod plain bbl in 98% condition for 150 w/ tax!
I bought another 12 in great shape for 135 w/ tax.
Also bought a Dan Wesson Model 14 357 Mag w/ 4" bbl for 150 w/ tax.
Pretty good deals as well.

SuperMagnumThat's a pretty good deal. I saw a wingsmaster several months ago that was in real good condition with the 30" long barrel for $150, wish I had picked that one up.
