MOSSBERG 500 SAFETY ANY FIXES FOR THEM?
HEY
a friend of mine has a mossy 500 20 ga with the thumb safety in rear of the top of the reciever
well when you shoot the gun the safety drops back and locks up the action you can not pump it or anything if you hold the safety up when you shot the first round then the gun works fine
any fix for those safety s on the mossy 500
thanks

By dropping back, I assume that you mean the safety slides back to the "SAFE" position. If that is correct, it is likely one or a combination of a few simple-to-fix things:

- The safety detent ball, safety detent plate, and/or safety detent spring are gone (usually due to someone removing the safety and loosing them) in which case replacements can be had for around $5.00 each plus shipping, or

- The detent in the plastic safty has worn out in which case a replacement steel safety can be purchasedfor around $16.00 plus shipping.

All of these parts are available from Brownells (800) 741-0015.

The best way to fix a mossberg is to tape a quater to it and drop it in the ocean.Just kidding sell it and get at least a Remington 870 express.
