Home made lead shot
I was wondering if anyone out there has had good results making home made lead shot.

Saw a shot maker advertised (Littleton)but it's about $375 and postage over the big pond would be a bit high.

Anyone have a recipe for a home made shot maker?

Prices here are about 1.15 per Kg.

Come on guys,

surely some one knows something about making lead shot.

All you technical folks out there must have a few ideas or clues. I've got a few of the basics but need to fine tune things.

Looking forward to some replies and help/advice

You may wish to post your question at http://bbs.shootingsportsman.com/ and/or at http://www.gunshop.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi I recall reading a post at one or the other of these sites regarding a shot maker of some sort.

Best,

While I've never tried it, I have seen a Littleton shot maker in action some years back (demo at the Grand) and while it would certainly be better than nothing, you would have to use an awful lot of shot to make it worthwhile. It is slow and, as you noted, is fairly expensive to start with. Also the shot is less than perfectly round. Unless I was going to be stuck for a long period in the wilds of Borneo or some other place where I needed shot, and had a source of lead but no shot there, I'd give it a miss.
