Red Label needs interchangeable chokes
Just swapped for a Red Label 12 gauge, 26-inch barrels that are choked modifed and full. The price was right and the wood and metal were nice. Now I need to have it fitted with interchangeable chokes, as I do a lot of upland in addition to some duck hunting, and need access to open chokes as well as steel shot capability. Can anyone recommend a good, fast, affordable smith, preferably in the West, who will do a good job? Ruger doesn't alter barrels for interchangeable chokes, I assume.

He's not in the west but if you contact Rhino chokes I think you will be more than satisfied.... Rhino Chokes 21027 NE Highway 27, Williston, FL 32696 (800) 226-3613 I think the guy you need to talk to is Joe Morales and that may not be spelled right.
As another source I think Briley will do the work for you but I have heard some complaints about how long it took to get something done by them. Never any complaints about their work.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Trapper. I checked with Briley, and they are sure the Cadillac of choke work, but want $470 to do the job. That's out of my league. I will check with Rhino. I also have e-mails in to Colonial and Carlson's.

Let me suggest that you send the work to Mike Orlen. He is a very reputable gunsmith and aftermarket choke installation is one of his specialty's. His work is excellent, and his prices are quite reasonable. He can be reached at either of these E-addresses. mrmoe@aol.com or michael. orlen@verison.net . Contact him for pricing, shipping instructions, and any other questions you may have.

DLM: Thanks for the suggestion. I heard from Mike after posting this question on the double gun board as well. You are right: his prices are outstanding, and so is his reputation.
