Actually,I thought that 55K posting was meant as a joke. I am still looking for a gun to use if someone can get serious.
Thanks again

It is a wide range of availability depending on your needs. You didn't specify and I tried to help. If you think that is a joke then have at it. Bet you didn't look at Track of the Wolf or you would have commented on the reasonable prices. You do have to keep an eye out or you won't see the deals, but pretty good deals are there. You can also have a single-barrel fowler built at any number of makers or do it yourself.

If you want quality you will need to pay for it.

I didn't mean to insult your efforts. The bottom line is that I am looking for a usable gun in the under $500 range.
Used would be OK, as all I want to do is play with it to see what I am capable of.

At that price level, for a flintlock, you're pretty much stuck with a used reenactor musket. You could buy a used TC for about $3-400 and get an aftermarket smoothbore barrel but that is likely to cost just as much. If you have the tools you could bore out the TC barrel yourself.

Cheap and flintlock don't seem to go together.
