Who has one and how do you like it ?

I don't own one, but a buddy got one for his son, who promptly decided that he wanted to ski/play soccer/golf/etc/etc/etc instead. It was shot twice (two rounds of clays) before it was "retired" to the "used sports equipment pile" that is/was rapidly growing around this kid. My buddy was upset, but what can you do?

Anyway, he offered it to me, and I took it to the sporting clays range a few different times before committing to buy it. I'm glad I did.

It was slim and trim, and "felt good" in my hands while just handling it, but the proof is in the shooting. It didn't impress me much (or at least not up to it's price level...).

My personal impression was that it kicked a lot more than other 20 gauge guns. (No 20 ga kicks enough to "hurt", but I was feeling it soon enough into the round to decide that I didn't like it).

In the end, I decided against buying it.....

I have a Montefeltro in 12ga. Nice and light, no jams and is a natural pointer for me. Great upland gun. The only semi-auto shotgun I would prefer over a "Monte" is a SBE.

Seems like 1/2 the people I have spoken to complain about recoil with these guns

I have several thousand shells through mine.
Light, reliable, & responsive. The perfect chukar partridge gun.

The local sporting clays guy has a stand with several traps that through birds randomly. I used to go over there a lot in the summer and burn through 200-300 birds in a little while.

It kicks more than a gas operated Berretta, less than an O/U. Has never bothered me. You can slow down the swing a bit by putting a C-H recoil reducer on the end of the magazine tube.

Easiest gun in the world to clean.

Nice cast off in the stock.

I have had several Berrettas over the years, but keep going back to Benelli's over the weight, and ease of cleaning issues.

If recoil really bothers you, get the new Berretta 391 in a wood stock. Get a specialized cleaning kit for it also. For a pure hunter, the Bennelli can't be beat.

I've recently bought a 12g montefeltro. Fantastic gun, light, points like your finger, easy to clean.

I was told this was a stiff recoiling gun, thats a load of crap ! once you have used the gun a coupla times and are used to it you will not notice recoil anymore than you would any other gun. I haven't shot heavy loads or magnums through it yet but I imagine the recoil will be stiff as it would be with other guns.

Loads up to 1 1/8oz shot softer than my beretta silver pigeon 3 which is about a pound heavier.

No matter what the operating system is, the heavier gun is bound to be softer shooting so you cant really compare the light weight Montefeltro easily. Gun fit is all important when it comes to felt recoil, the better the fit the softer the felt recoil.

Go with the Monte. Great guns !

love my 20 mono had for 10 years works great

as i get older i am getting more recoil sensitive... love the feel of the benelli montro but for some reason felt the recoil on my cheek... however the benelli and the berettas...... will shoot longer and dirtyer tha the remington and brownings....cleaned a hunters a-390 last year and it took me a hour to hose it down never seen a gun that nasty still working
